5 Quick Ideas To Save Energy In The Kitchen!

Do electricity bills make you run yourself into the ground? Here are 5 energy-efficient ways to be sustainable in the kitchen to keep things on the sweeter side.

  1. Unplug your appliances when not in use- Appliances like microwaves and electric kettles can still draw some power on standby mode when not in use. So it's best to unplug them when not in use.
  2. Defrost and Clean your freezer every month- Excessive ice build-up eats up more power. So unplug the refrigerator, remove all the food and let the ice melt completely. Dry out the freezer and restock your items again- it’s that easy.
  3. Position your fridge away from the stove or microwave- Plan your fridge’s position away from the hottest points in the kitchen, such as the stove you cook regularly. It will reduce the work the fridge has to do to maintain the cool temperature. Give it 7-8 cm of breathing space on the back as well, so that the air can circulate freely.
  4. Let your leftovers cool before popping them in for storage- Hot vessels increase the refrigerator’s load unnecessarily and it reflects your bill. So let them return to room temperature before popping them into the fridge.
  5. Avoid leaving the microwave or fridge doors open for a long time. Every time you keep staring at all the items in your open fridge, it has to spend extra energy to push out the heat and re-cool. Try to decide what you need before you pull the handle.

Try these hacks and do let us know how it worked for you! We would love to serve you the best for your electrical needs.
